The Beta is free and available to the first 2.5 million people who download it, starting January 9, 2009.

Minimum system requirements to install Windows 7:

· 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor

· 1 GB of system memory

· 16 GB of available disk space

· Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme)

· DVD-R/W Drive

The download is available in ISO format, so you’ll need to burn the image. You can upgrade to Windows 7 Beta from Vista SP1. When you download the beta the site also provides the beta key.

One can download and use the Beta for free. The Windows 7 Beta will stop working on August 1, 2009. There is no official support available for beta downloads from public website hence it is recommended to use only for testing purposes.
